I'm a Christian Songwriter Vocalist who started building guitars before really playing them. I heard my main influence, Eddie Van Halen, and I was driven to learn everything about his playing style.
I could not afford a guitar, so I joined a building trades class in high school. I built my first guitar from scratch, using planks of oak wood. BTW I still have that guitar.
My four main influences were Van Halen, AC/DC, Santana, and Boston. That was 27 years ago. Rock music was my reason to live and it kept me out of trouble because I practiced 12 hours a day. I didn’t have a stereo, so I would listen to them on my dad’s 8-track player in his car, which I found very therapeutic.
I've been playing since I was 16 in local bands playing covers and originals. I had the pleasure of playing for large festivals such as the Sombrero Fest in Brownsville, Texas and several venues in South Padre Island. My music credits include music for a PBS video titled, "A Bend in a Mexican River," some pieces for three indie films titled, "El Chisme and The Eternal Decision" with Indie Godmother in San Antonio, and "Holy Toast" with California filmmaker Ken Morales.
